Math Department
Two credits of math are required for graduation from PHS; however, the math entrance requirements for the Montana University System are: three years of mathematics, including Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2. Students are strongly encouraged to take a math course in their senior year.
Placement in math classes is dependent on the student’s success in prior math classes and a teacher's recommendation. Their success is determined by grades and the semester final.
Mathematically talented students may wish to take 5 math credits during their high school career. Those students who want to take Calculus will need to take Geometry and Adv. Algebra 2 concurrently. Students who choose and are accepted into the double-up program will be expected to take math for all 4 years of their high school career.
