News from the Polson School District

POLSON — The Polson School District is committed to promoting employee wellbeing. This school year, the district ramped up its workplace wellness program. “We care about our employees’ welfare so we wanted to offer them additional health and fitness resources and opportunities,” said Scott Boen, director of Human Resources and Communication.

The bolstered portion of the wellness program consisted of two components. The first component was a free membership to Studio SWEAT onDemand, a virtual exercise class program. The program features hundreds of on-demand and live-streamed workouts that staff members may access anywhere on any device. “We thought it important to offer our employees a virtual fitness program that was convenient and customizable and offered flexibility and variety,” said Boen.

The second component consisted of establishing partnerships with local fitness facilities. Several fitness centers generously offered district employees discounted rates on memberships. Participating businesses included Summit Fitness Gym, Out of This World Crossfit, Mission Fitness, and Mission Valley Aquatics and Fitness. “We wanted to provide options for our employees, especially for those who don’t want to workout at home,” said Boen.

Workplace wellness programs can increase healthy behaviors, improve engagement and reduce stress. “The benefits that accompany a wellness program are considerable, but the greatest benefit is providing another reminder to our wonderful staff that they are appreciated,” Boen said.
