Polson School District







The following is a list of awards in which the Salishian and its staff have received in the past few years.

97-98 Awards

The awards given by Polson High School Journalism Department were
the Journalism Award Pins which were the twelve students voted to have
expended the extra effort, written excellents stories and provided
outstanding service, and the Certificates of Excellence in Journalism
presented for dedication and service.

The Salishian was also rated as a Pacesetter - 2nd place in Montana class A

Students placing in the Rockies X High School Journalism Skills Contest,
and 8 - state competition of the intermountain west, in the category of
1000 students and below were:

2nd place feature writing, human interest - Karly Tait
3rd place in-depth feature, current issues - Jacob Liebschutz

The Rockies Competition rated the Salishian Best Overall Newspaper in
schools with enrollment 1000 and below

The American Scholastic Press Association award the Salishian a First
Place in the competition of high schools with enrollment with 1000 or
below. The Salishian was one of eight schools 1000 or below to earn
this designation.
