School Internet Quest -
Walk On Event
DESCRIPTION:
Participants will use the internet to find a diverse variety of information on math and technology. This is a
web-based scavenger hunt that will rely on general math and technology
knowledge and internet navigation skills.
GRADE LEVEL:
5 - 8
TEAM SIZE: 1 - 2
MAXIMUM NUMBER OF TEAMS: depends upon available
computers. If computers are limited, each school will have the right
to have at least one team. Extra computers will be allocated on a
first come, first served, basis.
APPROXIMATE TIME:
45 minutes
1. Each team will be given a printed list of 25 queries.
2. Answers to queries are to be found on the internet, using
self-selected search tools.
3. Teams must work
independently, and record answers and URLs on the answer sheet (provided).
4. Points will be assigned to each query.
Some will be harder than others; these will be worth more overall
points. A total of 200 points
for the 25 queries are possible.
The three highest point winners in the event will be recognized.
