Yikes! Who forgot to change out of their pjs?

Thursday, December 20th is the winter solstice, the beginning of winter and the shortest day of the year. Following tradition, our class decided to come dressed in our pajamas.

Learning How Sweden celebrates the hoidays

The biggest and longest holiday of the year is the magical Christmas of Sweden. The excitement begins the first Sunday of Advent with the lighting of the first Advent candle. The winter solstice is called Lucia Day, which legend says is a time of the year when man and beast need extra nourishment. A Lucia (Queen of Light) is chosen from each home, club, school, etc. She is dressed in a white gown with a crown of candles in her hair. She brings food and drink and is generally accompanied by a train of attendants. The boys wear tall paper cone hats decorated with stars.

We each made our own hats in celebration of St. Lucia
